“It’s a Girl Thing” has come to the galleries at the Arts Center as the September exhibit shared by friends Vivian Miller and Sharon Hobart. The exhibit runs from September 2 through September 30.
Miller, from Akron, has been teaching drawing for a year at the Arts Center. When she was invited to exhibit, she decided it would be fun to ask her Sioux City friend Sharon Hobart to share the space during the month of September.
Sharon Hobart, painter and illustrator, lives in Sioux City with her husband, Mike, who is the elected mayor. She winters in Minnesota where she shows her work at Art of the Lakes, in Battle Lake. She also has works at The Gallery of Siouxland Artists, Inc. as well as numerous locations and shows through out the Midwest. Before retiring, she taught children and young adults in the public school arena for 38 years.
Vivian Miller is a licensed mental health counselor in private practice in Sioux City. She currently home schools three of her nine children. Plus, she keeps busy designing jewelry, working as a docent at the Sioux City Art Center and taking art classes. Watercolor has become her medium of choice, and she has taught pastel classes to cancer patients at the Sioux City Arts Center.
You are invited to meet these artists at a reception on Friday evening, September 24 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Arts Center. Refreshments will be served.
The Sittin’ Pretty chairs have gone to new homes and we would like to thank the participants in this year’s exhibit and auction. Although the amount raised was less than last year, the artistry was exemplary. The Board of Directors has decided that this will be a fund raiser on the docket for next year, with a few minor changes in the works.

Parties must consist of 6 to12 children at a cost of $10 per child. The parties must also be scheduled on a weekend.
Boys, you will not be left out as Vivian can theme your drawing room party around safari animals.
